Electric cars are expensive. You have to pay a bit of a premium to get them. What's happening is, because those cars don't use gas, the government insists that it needs to take money out of the economy. So because they felt rich people were getting over, what they're deciding to do now is tax miles travelled instead, rather than gas. But you know what's even odder about that? A tax on that would really grotesquely impact and would be a regressive tax on the middle class and the poor, rather than the rich. Why is that?
