Douglas is only in prison for two years and he's the only thing he's convicted of. It's paprancy, like having no fixed place of residence or means to support yourself. And yeah, unlawfully entering the tent of two Mary, very unspectacular. So we can see, okay, these miners clearly feel like they need to take the law into their own hands. But luckily, there is an officer who manages to talk them down.
