I didn't get a ton of pressure from my family, but it just seemed like a natural place to go. No one really told me I was supposed to study for the MCATs, and I wasn't really prepared. Internal medicine psychiatry residency is a five year program in which residents complete requirements for both internal medicine and psychiatric training. At the end of the training, graduates are board eligible in both specialties and expertly trained in how to integrate general medical and psychiatric care.
