Islamic Science - What Happens Next?
There is an absolutely fascinating role that Islam plays in the survival and the flourishing of Western science. What effectively happens is the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the fifth century, with natural philosophy on its last legs. Muslims particularly in the Abbasid Caliphate based in Baghdad hire a lot of interestingly Syrian Christians who are by or trilingual to translate these texts into Arabic - which provided a basis for Islamic scientists to build on them.
