The longer you stay sober, the easier it is to minimize the bad stuff and romanticize the good stuff from your drinking past. This process is called rosy retrospection and it's our tendency to recall the past more fondly than the present. When I romanticize alcohol and start thinking fondly of my drinking memories, I bring myself back to acceptance and remembering that I am just not someone who can drink in a romantic way.
