What's the Biggest Change in Horse Size?
In the mediaeval period, it's mainly oxen that pull ploughs. By the seventeenth century, large teams of plough horses are being used. This is when we see a huge leap in horse size. And it's to do with very selective breeding and advanced agricultural regimes. The temperament of these beasts is is absolutely critical to their breeding.
