The Role of the Hippocampus in Memory

We are our collection of individual experiences. These are called personal memories or episodic memories. If you take away all my episodic memories, I'm just a zombie. We don't have an organ for time because time isn't something that we can perceive directly. Time is an abstract concept, but we can infer it by detecting change. And as humans, we link that change to clocks and calendars.
