Introduction

Katherine Liu has just written a book called Virtue Hoarders, the case against the Professional Managerial Class. The PMC really comes out of John and Barbara Errenwijk's idea in 1977 that the American left was increasingly dominated by college educated people who held certain countercultural values. They also hate like just being materialistic because they're so virtuous and they can curate their items, commodities. And I feel like their values are kind of like the air we breathe,. And it's poisoning us.
