What does the conquest of england markedly change society, or the nature of society in normandy? That's a question that hasn't been addressed enough. My feeling is it did affect normandy a not fthe better. I think normandy saw a drain of its young men. The church in normandy was enriched by lands in england. It got revenues. But er, it sent a lot of monks to england because the archbishop of canterbury, archbishop lanfrank and king william wanted sound men in english monasteries.
