FDR went on radio in March 1933 to explain the banking crisis. He's enacted banking legislation to try to save as many banks as possible. The next day people are queuing up outside banks to put their money back in. Most of the banks were saved and at a time when FDR took office the outgoing Hoover administration assumed that at least one third of all banks could never be reopened.
