The New Children and Youth Programme, Emblems of Belonging
When tens feel cared about by god and or their peers at church, their depression is lower. This may indicate that for depression, a key protective factor within religion is whether the individual's religious experience facilitates connections with the divine and with others. One of the biggest predictors of suicidality, suicide, is what's called thwarted belongingness. I'm trying to belong, but i can't. That creates a lot of pain for individuals.
