The Importance of Old Testament Genealogies

The genealogies are significant because they relate to who Christ is. They preach the tree across by leading us through the generations up to the promised seed and to his death and to his resurrection. Matthew chapter one, the one we already looked at, as well as Luke's genealogy. Both of these genealogies in Matthew, aswell as in Luke, teach us how to interpret Old Testament genealogies.
