Cognitive inflexibility is an inability to update information in your mind that guides your decision-making. A 2021 study looked at rodents that were selectively bred for excessive alcohol consumption, so they're also called alcohol preferring rats. This study found that the degree of cognitive inflexibility was predictive of how much alcohol they would go on to drink.
