The Roll of the Potato as a Political Instrument
The first international year of the united nations devoted to a food stuff was in two thousand and eight, and it was devoted to the potato. That was the first time that the f a o or the u n really interested in foods as something you would have an international year of. So i think the potato was really emblematic of that recognition of the contributions of local markets, locally grown s and small farmers to actually feeding the world and to providing models for the future.
