How to Set Up Logical Consequences
When kids hit, especially at this age, it is because they are overwhelmed and they do not know what else to do. I think both of your little ones are old enough for some consequences regarding their behavior. You can introduce expectations like you will use a fork at dinner and not make a mess. And if you want to be able to do an activity, you have to treat things that we're doing the activity with nicely. For me, nice to have are really good for rewards.
