The Importance of a Senior Data Person in Startups

The delivery layer is a customer facing data platform. It's sort of like a replacement for a front end on top of data. So if you think about a company like Nielsen, Nielsen's value is in their data and then they have various web applications and APIs that have been built over 20 years. And the thesis that I'm going after is that that layer, the web applications that people are using to access data is sort of undifferentiated. No one's trying to come up with a new version of a line chart that's different than everyone else's version of aline chart. It's the data that's valuable.
