The US Government's Commitment to Taiwan

The US government is trying to right now solidify around its position, which is calming the fears rather than stoking the fire. They want to project confidence that a ground war in Taiwan is not going to happen. At the same time, US officials from General Milley to the Secretary of Defense are all insisting we are nowhere near China launching a ground invasion into Taiwan. The administration can lift roadblocks and cut red tape when they need to but it's not really happening on helping Taiwan defend its sovereignty.
