The Scarab Beetle in the Sahara Desert
One of the most unusual and telling objects from the whole tomb is an elaborate piece of jewelry found in the treasury. The central piece of this jewel is a scarab beetle, carved not from lapis lazuli, but from green glass. It's naturally occurring desert glass, which is only found in one very, very remote part of the sahara desert. So it completely blows apart our sense that the ancient egyptians were just the people who lived in the nile valley.
