Families are suing major platforms, Google and Twitter in particular for helping the terrorists. The idea behind these lawsuits is that by not taking more proactive steps or sufficiently proactive steps to get rid of that content, that these companies therefore aided and abetted these terrorist groups. One question that arises in these cases is this question of whether or not that counts as aiding and abetting.
