When i was a believer, we would usually rationalize that way by saying, well, it's a fallen world. But for people invoking god, they act an awful lot like they are on their own. And more and more, i begin to see that god was sort of this lapel pin, things like the ribbon that you'd wear on your collar. It makes you feel good. It gives you a sense of security. Perhaps there is utility in how you feel like depite the chaos in the ld, that it all is part of a divine plan a comfort mechanism. Maybe it alleviates the fear of death, which is rampant in the church. I don't even know
