Is String Theory a Good Theory?

String theory is a new way of looking at the universe. It's an old theory that started out trying to explain something else, and then was tossed aside when it didn't work. This idea is different: this is sort of bottom up. They say, let's just start at the very bottom. Let's go to the most basic element and try to explain the universe from the start.
