Metatarsal Stress Fractures in Dancers

A 26 year old professional ballet dancer presents with insidious onset a right midfoot pain, which began six months ago. Radiographs reveal a chronic stress reaction at the base of the second metatarsal. Treatment consists of forty six weeks of rest with gradual return to pre injury activity level. No patients required bone grafting for sistant symptoms.
