What's the Eucalyptus Paradox?

In 2000, the energy capex was 70 billion, okay, for the US. Then you had the shale boom, and that grew to 250 billion from 2008 until 2016. For eight years, then it went down to 150 billion,. And now the capex is 90, 99 billion. You basically slashed your capex by one third. So the missing capex is, I don't know, call it like a trillion or something. The Europeans took the decision that it's better to burn coal than do anything else about this. But even if they don't, the prices are good enough for the capex to increase in places like the U.S., UK and offshore as well.
