The Rise and Fall of the Emperor Norton

Emperor Norton was the first Emperor of the United States. He ordered that a bridge and tunnel be built across San Francisco Bay. His grave site is a place of pilgrimage for his Majesty's loyal subjects today. There are efforts to name part or all of the San Francisco Oakland Bridge in honor of him. The plan is to have the existing names left, but to add Emperor Norton Bridge as an additional honorary name.
