Affectiva was trying to develop a smile detector for people who have difficulty, you know, reading the emotional state of other people. There's no support or evidence that says computer vision systems like measurement of the micro movements in your facial muscles one can effectively measure a smile. Like this is all pseudoscience, but it doesn't have like people will still believe it. And often it's that like move to the secondary use case where you see a lot of like slippage in the actual functioning of the system.
