Is There a Slowdown in Mortgages in the US?
Two thousand was the last time we saw interest rates rising up to three%. Back then, the proportion of household income that was used to pay off the mortgage was quite a bit more than it is now. Wes: The lags in the transmission mechanism are probably longer inthe us than they are in australia because you have 30 fixed rates. And so it's only really the new mortgage flow that's being impacted the moment.
