Socrates and the Apocrypha
Socrates thought that was not something we should believe about gods. He also had the famous diemonion, the a divine voice that warned him not to do certain things when he was thinking of doing them. And this was held against him, that he was a communing with a god that wasn't officially recognized by the athenian state. But i think the idea that socrates was a had questions about the traditional religion is far from impossible.
