The Negative Impacts of Alcohol on Native Communities
Alcohol is a trade good that can destroy, well, lives and societies. But it also had a positive dimension for forging social relationships in early colonial America. In addition to being a place where people go to form social bonds, taverns were also critically important to other economic activities. So alongside the problematic impacts that alcohol can have on native communities around the world, there were also positive aspects to those transformations as well.
