The Importance of Collectivization in China

The sticking point for many, well Indonesia especially, was the principle of eusanguineous. This is a Latin word meaning right of blood. It went back to the final years of the Qing dynasty 1909 and said if you were ethnic Chinese born and bred in Jakarta you still had as far as China was concerned right to become a Chinese citizen. Mao wasn't happy with the slow pace of rural collectivization. In October 1955 Joe was fully on board with the sorter from the top. By November 1956 just a year later 96% of rural households in China had been collectivized. But collectivized China did successfully as instructed by Mao himself.
