Is There a Purpose to These Stories?

On ancient greece is two thousand years long. These stories arise all over the greek speaking world. They are centuries older by the time homer, our earliest sourcei is composing them. So i feel really confident telling you that they were performed. It seems impossible that there wouldn't be some kind of religious element because religion and performance are so mately connected in greek culture.
