What Is the Story of Gerda Tarrou?
Gerda Tarrou was a German-Jewish photographer who fled to Spain during the Spanish Civil War. She met Robert Capa in Paris, where she helped him professionalise his work. Her family were later wiped out in the Holocaust and there is very little documentary evidence about her. But what we do have is an extraordinary body of photography that has only recently been attributed to her.
