What Kind of Inheritance Was Effected by the First World War?

Before the first world war, country houses had been not doing tremendously well. A lot of them had these big investments in land and so they'd been running down unnless. After the second world war, their owners found it extremely difficult to recover from requisitioning. And people often didn't want that way of life any more. They wanted something which was more convenient and less trouble. So er, the whole resondet of the country house was being called into question. It didn't recover for decades.
