The idea that elephants are noble has a long history, dating back even to a simbat story in arabian nights. The image of the elephant as particularly wise is also within enlightenment thought and really takes hold. And then other image of the Elephant is as deadly and vicious, growing out of the second half of the nineteenth century: the rogue elephant. Rite am i i hopes people will question some of their own assumptions about what it means to be an elephant.
