Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Complex regional pain syndrome is defined as sustained sympathetic activity in a perpetuated reflex arc, which leads to pain out of proportion. Causes of complex regional pain syndrome type 1 include trauma, casting or tight dressing, but no specific nerve injury is present. Condition should be on the differential for any patient with excessive or seemingly inappropriate pain and that early pharmacologic treatment should be considered.
