The American Dream Isn't as Robust as It Once Was
Small business starts stalled in 2004. They didn't actually pick up again until after the pandemic. The economic mobility at least by the most recent measures hasn't gone away but it's not nearly as broad as it once was. Most businesses in LA, 95% of all businesses have less than 100 employees. This is what's driving the economy. It's either going to become the business person or you're going to work for that small business owner who probably will pay you more.
