Nori turkel's mother was a detainee in one of mau's re education camps at the height of the cultural revolution. Stephen sacker had good reason to view the chinese communist party with deep misgivings. Turkel's family were moslem weagers from shin jang, which the party leadership was determined to sub culturally, politically and economically. In his early twenties, noritokel was granted a travel viza to study at the university of idaho in the us but has never been able to return.
