The University in the Sixties
The first big topic of any discussion of the university in the sixties, of course, is student activism. The question that many faculties had to face was the anti war movements critique of r o t c on campus. Students came up with a strategy of focusing on what they calld what we called university complicity in the war. They also protested against the university allowing a a military industries,. especially dow chemical, which made a napam and it burned people to death.
