The Importance of Sime Amputations in Diabetics
A hypermobile heel pad can cause difficulty with prosthesis wear and damage to the soft tissues. Finkler at all performed a retrospective study on long-term outcomes of sime amputations. They found that patients who underwent sime's ankle disartigulation amputations appeared to fare better than similar patients with trans-tibial amputations. These patients required less rehabilitation and achieved improved levels of functional independence.
