Weishelpt placed emphasis on secrecy. His reasoning was that if his group remained anonymous, they could never be destroyed or ousted from power. In the meantime, Weishelpt also had to contend with the other members of his society. At this point, they were still a little more than a club, only containing five members,. But even that number seemed to fluctuate. Thanks to him, the Illuminati expanded their ranks from five members to twelve.
