The Last Jewel - A Film About Women and Rape
The film is based on the story of marguerite and her husband, jacques legree. It's very tempting to think of this just as the last duel between jean de carouge and jacque legrie. But it's really the story ofmarguerite em and i think it's quite easy to lose sight of that. The second thing i'm struck by is the sheer courage of women like marguerite. So mediaeval attitudes to rape were actually extremely complex.
