James Tilly matthews was a tea merchant in the late eighteenth century. He believed that invisible forces were trying to bring revolution to england through his heirlooms. His delusions led him to join up with an anti-revolutionary group, but it all went horribly wrong and he ended up being kicked out of France by Napoleon's regime. The book is called 'Illustrations of madness', which includes drawings from tilly Matthew himself.
