A Monkey Ends the Marriage

A monkey bit Dalia Akeley's wrist and she had to have surgery. It took six months for her to recover from the infection. She stopped going to all social functions and seeing friends to spend all her time caring for the monkey. Her husband Carl filed for divorce on grounds of desertion, they were divorced in 1923. The gorilla would change Carl Akeley's life forever.
