The Pyramids Are a Status Symbol for the Egyptians

As I understand it the pyramids were intended as royal tombs predominantly did they have any other purpose. If you can have a massive pyramid first of all it shows everyone how really exceptional how really powerful you are and how much in command of resources. It's also an aid for the kings to achieve their own afterlife but you could almost use it as a stairway as a ramp going up to heaven. The way that it rises out of the desert would have been to the ancient Egyptians very reminiscent of the way land emerged out of the river Nile after the inundation which occurred every year.
