The Requirements of Distributed Transactions

Many database don't have multi-object transactions because they're tough. It's really hard to implement, especially across different partitions. And it's got a lot of performance implications and implications for availability. There's really no technical reason that distributed transactions aren't possible. They get into the details of how those distributed transactions can be made possible in a later chapter.
