Is It Technically Possible for Our Grid to Be Separated?

Is it technically possible for an individual who really wants to support renewables to buy renewables and not be affected by the gas price? Do you know what I mean? Is it possible to separate those out because it's become such a poignant issue at the moment. We spent, as a nation, we spent 300 million pounds turning off wind farms because they couldn't find customers for that electricity.
