The Benefits of a Managed Futures Trend Following Strategy
Merrill Lynch: Managed futures is an industry term that's used for folks that don't know this to describe the broad classification of folks that primarily trade futures. The great thing from my perspective about the world of managed futures, he says, is that you don't have to know what's going to happen next. And if persistence occurs during the next big one, which is typically the case with a managed futures trend-following strategy, there's a case to be made just like 2008 that trend follows will experience a positive market environment. He adds some of his favorite hedge fund managers are actually managed futures programs.
