Hester's Nameless Horror

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne was written in 18th century England. It is the story of Hester Prynne and her late husband, Mr Dimmsdale. In it she tells him about a strange man who came to their home at night. She says: 'I shiver at him, dust thou know the man, I hate him' The next day he hears that Satan has stolen his black glove. He goes back to work as a clergyman but soon finds himself on duty again.
