There was a very moving day in guildhall square in derry when david cameron, as british prime minister, unreservedly apologized for what had happened on bloody sunday. There still are unresolved issues. They're now euphemistically termed legacy issues from the troubles. But part of the peace process was about applying political pressure for at least some of those unresolved issues to be addressed. The government of the republic was conscious throughout the peace process that there was unfinished business in re to these events.
