The Influence of Max Horkheimer on the Institute

When Max Horkheimer was brought in as the new director of the Institute, things began to crystallize. He grouped around him a number of people who became quite prominent over a long period of time. As I'm certain you know, the Nazis came to power in Germany in the early 1930s and it was necessary for Orkheimer and his colleagues to leave Germany. They were actually rather prescient in anticipating what was going to happen.
