What Happened in the 11th Century?
We're talking 1649 to 60, which is the time of our one and only Republic. It's probably the most crowded 11 years in English history. The king has executed the monarchy, the House of Lords, the Episcopal Church of England with its bishops and cathedrals and ceremonies, are all abolished. And a Republic is established through one chamber parliament that the army staged a coup.
